Cave of Grotta del Vento
Located in the municipality of Vergemoli, in the centre of the Apuan Alps Park, the Grotta del Vento is one of the most important caves accessible to tourists from all over Europe. The cave, already known in the 1800s and used by the inhabitants of the nearby town of Fornovolasco for food storage, offers an exceptional variety of underground karst: stalactites, stalagmites, small lakes and streams that incessantly eat into the limestone rocks, shaping them into fascinating natural sculptures.
The cave has several possible itineraries (from one to three hours) which are easily accessible to most visitors.
